CHIEF ENGINEER

Poseidon Ferry LLC seeking a motivated individual to join our engineering team!


Position Summary

Technicians  inspect, maintain, and repair catamaran ferries. Using diagnostic  equipment, test and repair boat engines, hulls, propellers, and  navigational equipment. They also install and test sanitation and  refrigeration systems, cabinetry, electrical systems, steering gear, and  accessories.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Inspect, maintain, and repair catamaran ferries
  • Utilize  diagnostic equipment to test and repair Yamaha 300 series outboard boat  engines, hulls, propellers, rigging, and navigational equipment
  • Install and test sanitation and refrigeration systems, cabinetry, electrical systems, steering gear, and accessories
  • Troubleshoot, test, repair, replace, remove and install vessel systems and components
  • Conduct  thorough assessment prior to starting a job including; acknowledging  the budgeted time and time frame for completion, proving the system and  the element requiring service, sourcing parts if required
  • Overall knowledge of marine systems including electrical, plumbing, water & HVAC systems
  • Troubleshoot,  repair, and install vessel systems and components including but not  limited to: electrical, electronics, HVAC, plumbing & water systems  (fresh, salt, and waste), gas and diesel engines
  • Assign parts and purchases to the appropriate vessels/tickets
  • Availability to work overtime in order to meet deadlines

Technical and Physical Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Technical school training preferred
  • 5 years’ experience preferred
  • ABYC and/or Yamaha certifications preferred
  • Ability to ascend and descend a ladder
  • Must carry own tools
  • Ability to work in confined spaces
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Basic boat handling skills preferred
  • Experience with both gas and diesel engines preferred

Minimum Soft Skills Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service and an understanding of customers’ needs
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills while working both independently and within a team context
  • Organizational skills are a must
  • Demonstrates ability to prioritize and work unsupervised

FERRY DECKHAND

 

Poseidon Ferry is seeking experienced Deckhands to join our Miami  Team! Successful candidates will have strong attention to detail and  thrive in a fast-paced environment. Must be a self-motivated,  enthusiastic team player with a commitment to absolute guest  satisfaction. This is a great opportunity for those interested in  advancing their career in the hospitality industry. Day, evening,  weekend and holiday shifts are available. We are a quality hospitality  organization that serves the public year round. Weekends and holidays  may be required.

Position specific responsibilities:

  • Responsible for getting underway, mooring, anchoring, handling lines, and bridge operations in all weather conditions
  • Perform lookout duties while underway, including watching for other  vessels and monitoring the waterway for potentially unsafe conditions
  • Assist in boarding and disembarking of passengers and monitoring passenger & crewmember safety issues on the boat.
  • Assist the Captain in ensuring compliance with all applicable  local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations ensuring  the vessel is in an inspection-ready condition at all times
  • Ensure that safety equipment is utilized and appropriate guidelines  are followed for all tasks involving physical risk or hazardous  materials
  • Participate in meetings, training, drills and safety audits as required by USCG & company policy

Desired background:

  • TWIC Card Certifications
  • Maritime experience aboard small passenger vessels
  • Six months customer service experience in the Hospitality/Banquet Industry preferred
  • Bi-Lingual (English / Spanish)

VESSEL GALLEY CONCESSIONS AGENT

If you’re an enthusiastic team player who thrives in an  environment where communication, creativity, and cooperation are  encouraged, this may just be the opportunity for you.We have immediate openings for concession workers to provide quality  customer service. Work includes but is not limited to selling food and  drinks to guests onboard, stocking and helping clean the boat. This is a  great job with flexible hours and fantastic scenery.Position specific responsibilities:


  • Provide upscale customer service, answering questions and creating customer delight
  • Sell food, drinks, and other retail - register sales, accept cash payments, credit card payments, make change, issue receipts
  • Set up daily: menu items displayed, prepare equipment, food, drink, and floor set-up.
  • Stock inventory of vessels, organize and maintain inventory, and submit daily inventory report to main office.
  • Receive and verify bank at the beginning of the shift, balance and reconcile revenue for shift end deposit
  • Wipe down counters, clean tables and vacuum throughout the day as needed
  • Assist Captain and Crew Mates with daily operations and tasks


Desired background:


  • Prior restaurant and/or customer service experience
  • Food handling certification preferred
  • Bar Tending Experience
  • Ability to accurately make change
